How to add signature to your Gmail?

Adding a signature to Gmail (infact any email service) is always handy and helpful. Many of us consider adding  "a signature to email" a time consuming activity and tend to get lazy and never do it.
But yes, after writing every email we are ready to take the pain to write Thanks, Regards etc. I personally find it the most annoying thing in the email writing part.

Writing Thanks and my name each time when i have to send an email. Itsn't that crazy?

On one fine day I took 5 minutes out of my schedule and did add a signature to my Gmail to save time and effort.
In the signature you can add your name, web site link, phone number, company name etc. You can even add a thought or a quote too. An email signature not only saves time but can be a marketing tool as well for your company, business or website.
Also, you will never miss sharing important contact numbers or address as you just have to add these one time while adding a signature.
So, let's do it NOW.
To add signature in Gmail:
1. Open your Gmail.
2. Click on the  gear in the top right and go to "Settings" tab.

3. Now, scroll down to the “Signature” section and enter your desired text in the box. You can format your text using the buttons directly above the text box.
Also you can add image and can link the text to the desired website.

4. Click "save changes" and we are done!!!

How much time it took? Just 5-7 minutes ONLY.

How to use "RARELY KNOWN" features of Google Chrome Browser

Using your favorite Google Chrome web browser? So, let’s make it a bit more interesting and have a look at some of the unique features that are available only in this Google’s web browser and are often overlooked.

  • Viewing Browser History

To open browser history just click on Chrome menu on browser toolbar and select History. Use this History page to see a list of websites you have ever visited in last 10 weeks. The pages visited in incognito mode, pages from secure website or deleted browsing history are not stored in history page.

  • Paste and Go / Paste and Search

If have a URL in your clipboard and intend to visit that site on Chrome, then instead of doing Ctrl+v you can just right-click and click Paste and go to automatically visit that site.
Same for text i.e. if you have anything other than URL in your clipboard and you want to search using Chrome’s address bar, then just right-click and click Paste and Search. This saves the step to paste and then hit Enter.

  •          Check Memory Used by Different Browsers

If you want to see detailed statistics of your browser’s open processes, i.e. how memory is being consumed by different processes in the browser, then use about:memory feature of Chrome. This interface can be accessed by entering about:memory in Chrome’s address bar.

  •           Switch to iPad Interface

You can see how your favorite site will look in an iPad by changing the user agent string of your browser to that of iPad. To change user string in Chrome follow below steps:

  •           Right-click Chrome shortcut icon and select Properties,
  •      Now go to shortcut tab
  •      In Target field replace the entire text with the following text: "C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe -user-agent=”Mozilla/5.0(iPad; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/531.21.10 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.4 Mobile/7B314 Safari/531.21.10"
(Note: username represents your windows username)
  •      Now Press OK.
  •      Now open Chrome browser and open sites that have released their iPad version and see how the site will look in iPad.

  •                 Application Shortcuts

Chrome gives you the feature to create standalone apps from your favorite websites and place them on the desktop, start menu or the task bar. These webpages are opened in standalone windows without any menus, tabs or other standard browser components.
Just click on Tools  and then click Create application shortcuts, shortcut will be created based on the options selected.

10 Less Known Things Which Gmail Can Do

Gmail is one the most popular and most used email service around the world. But apart from sending and receiving emails we hardly use it for anything else, and do not know about other wonderful features of Gmail which can be very useful.

Here is the list of 10 less known features of Gmail:

1. Gmail can be used offline (with Google Gears)

Install Google Gears and you can use Gmail even when you are offline. Its obvious that you won't be able to use full functions as you are not connected to internet but you can save time as you can write or draft and email and it will be sent and delivered as soon as you get online. Also, you can read and browse through already received emails, this also saves you a lot of time and you do not have to wait to get online to read an important email.

2. Gmail can give you driving directions

No, I have not typed a wrong sentence! Gmail infact can guide us to a party, to a new office or to an important meeting if you are not sure of the driving directions. How it happens? Actually gmail automatically tracks any location or address mentioned in your emails. It then creates link to the right of the message and asks whether to link this address to the map. choose YES option if you need the the directions.

3. Turn on Experimental Features With Gmail Labs

Gmail Labs is an experimental feature center for Gmail. The features and Gmail Apps which are not yet ready are experimented and used from here. Few of them may get popular and easily installed easily in Gmail.

4. Add Gmail Themes

As a human nature we tend to get fed up of same things easily but we cannot change or customize many things. But we can surely change the look of our Gmail by using different themes available. You can set themes as per your moods or likes. In few themes you may find readability issue but most of them are too good.

5. Task Lists

This was the most awaited feature in Gmail I guess - A to-do list. Now you can take a note of your to-do activities. You can mentioned due dates and mention the details about the tasks to be done. You can hide, float your task list.

Just take a minute and like our Facebook Fan page.

Thank you! Let's continue now....

6. Get Free IMAP and POP Mail

As Gmail supports both POP and IMAP, you can map Outlook or Mac Mail with your Gmail account. Many email providing services do not allow this. In this regard Gmail always has upper hand.

7. Use Google Apps to Send Gmail From Your Own Domain

This feature can be utilized if you have your own domain and do not want to bear the extra expenses of maintaining your own email server. By using free Google Apps you can turn your domain address into your Gmail account. Your client's would never be able to make difference as they will receive emails as "uraddress@urdomain.com. This looks more professional as well rather than simply using Gmail address for professional purposes.

8. Video Chat From Gmail

Many of us may be already using this feature frequently. We can use Gmail chat to send instant message to other Gmail contacts and can use voice and video chat option as well to chat to our Gmail contacts for free.

9. Check the Gmail Server Status

Gmail servers rarely have issues but rare things do happen.  If you are confused and need to check if Gmail is down or not, please check the Google Apps Status Dashboard. You will find if Gmail server is down there will be information about the expected time of getting the server up.

10. Remember the Milk

Remember the Milk is a third party service but it integrates with Google. You can use this feature if you are not happy with the task list in your Gmail.

So now these less-known features are not new for you.

How to keep your browsing data a secret?

So you do not want anyone to see your browsing data? Then here is the solution for you by Google Chrome!

Go incognito i.e. use Google Chrome’s incognito browsing window.
  •  Pages viewed in this window doesn't appear in your browser history or search history and hence doesn't leave any traces once you close all open incognito windows.
  • To open incognito window, click on Chrome Menu then on ‘New incognito window’ and a new incognito window opens up.

Google Chrome  Task Manager (Windows 7)

  • Google Chrome has a built in Task Manager just like a Windows Machine.
  • It lets you know how much of your computer’s memory a site is using, its CPU usage and network activity.
  • To open task manager click on Chrome menu, select Tools and then Task Manager or, just click on ‘View background pages’.

  • Following Task manager shows the active processes which includes browsers, renderers, plug-ins, extensions and GPU(Graphics Processing Unit) with CPU usage against each process. You can kill(or, end) any process having unexpected CPU usage.

Now, all your browsing data is a secret to everyone. happy safe browsing :)
